Harris County Leads Texas in Total Number Crashes

The number one contributing factor to crashes across the State of Texas according to TX-DOT was a failure to control speed. This resulted in 500 fatal crashes, 2,896 serious crashes and 139,131 total crashes. Perhaps just as concerning is the number of crashes that can be attributed to driver inattention, which is credited as the second-leading contributing factor in crashes across the state. Driver inattention accounted for 294 fatal crashes, 2,043 serious crashes and 89,037 total crashes.
